In Idle Classes you start off a weak warrior. As you follow your journey your character grows in strength, until at some point you decide to sacrifice your progress for long term gains. As you progress through the game you'll unlock more ways to improve yourself and reach even further.

If your dedication to self-improvement is undying, you might reach the final boss. If you do, good luck to you, soldier.

I really loved the game, especially after I learned the undying talents affect the other classes. I hope there will be more content in the future. OR a new game that is similar to this one. :-)

2h16m, was fairly entertaining, would love a longer version with more content and mechanics.

New WR?

Your time is really good, but I must say someone in the Discord server has got you beat with a stupendous time of around 90 minutes.

Time to bring out my excel sheets.

Pretty nice game :D It would do amazingly with more content, but as what it is, it's still a pretty solid title!

(+2)

Would love a bigger game of this with a lot more polish, other wise good concept game

Agreed, would love to see this become a game that has lots of content. This is a great concept, and I think it could be taken quite a bit further. I'd love to see icons and maybe some character art. This would make a great game for steam.

Cleared this in 4h27m23s with minimal idle grinding. The trick here is to grind your undying skills, especially Shrink and Undying and Speed Strike, to help with getting higher levels. Lore is also a must for faster gains

whatever it is that youre doing thats CONSTANTLY searching my hard drive, stop it. i can hear this game literally grinding my HDD with an audible grind every second, i can only imagine what its doing to SSD's. its not doing MUCH reading/writing, but whatever it is doing is pushing the drive HARD.

I've spent the last hours looking into this, but unfortunately I was not able to find a satisfying solution. The autosave is writing around 400 characters to the cookies every second, which shouldn't really cause problems under normal conditions.

Many browsers allow you to run some code before a window is closed, unfortunately they don't allow enough time to actually save anything. As a result the only way I can ensure progress is not lost, is to autosave frequently.

(+3)

....dont save the game ever second. once per minute is more than frequent enough, but saving every single second is just going to damage peoples hardware from unnecessarily frequent writing. and again, for some reason your game is EXTREMELY hard on HDDs. like my drive isnt even that loud when im rebooting, and doing heavy reading/writing from it. i get that youre not sure why, but its something you really need to look into.

Would it be possible to use a differential save on close, or no?

(1 edit)

I didn't get notified of these new messages, just saw them.

To ensure that nobody's drive is getting more wear than necessary, I've changed the autosave to happen every 60 seconds instead. After investigating it, there doesn't seem to be a consensus whether or not frequent reading and writing wears down drives. I will use a similar autosave interval for future games, and let the player manually save as well, to ensure a good user experience.

A differential save wouldn't really make a difference, the save file is already miniscule as is and only uses a tiny fraction of a percentage of what a drive is capable of in terms of data throughput. I speculate spinning up and down is what is making the sounds.

You can exploit the boss by going to another screen when your health gets lower and getting the AFK message keeps the boss health low but refills your character, other than that I didn't see any other bugs and had a lot of fun.

wtf i lost my save

Sorry to hear that! If you delete your browser's cookies that will also wipe any save files. Otherwise if you open the game in multiple tabs, the one that is closed last will be saved.

i did not do either of those things

Hmm very strange, thanks for the feedback. I have not seen any such issues myself so it would be hard to fix this one unfortunately. I assume you also didn't switch browsers or use incognito mode?

correct i just loaded up the game and my save was gone

If you use chrome, sometimes it will autoclear your cookies

Good funny numbers game. Wish there was another tier of upgrades you can buy after beating the boss with points you get from defeating the boss. Would add just another layer to the power fantasy. Most undying upgrades drop off in value over time so it would be a nice addition to replace them.
I beat the boss on all 3 classes in under 50h and most of those were offline. Real playtime was closer to 5h.
You could exploit the game slightly by just forcing reincarnate as soon as you get the option to get the wizard for insane xp gains and beat the game really fast. Having some additional arbitrary goals to beat with each character to unlock new ones would be better for playtime.
An achievement system like in cookie clicker would also be cool to get more power the more missions/achievements have been finished.
It's great I just wish it was longer.

Thanks for the kind words. Yeah, I definitely thought about adding another layer of progression, I have a good one in mind. However, this game was more intended as a learning experience than a long-term project. I've always had trouble keeping the scope small so now I'm taking an incremental approach to scope, making games that are slightly bigger every time.

I'm already working on the next game which is a bit different, but also an incremental / idle game. It probably won't have super crazy power numbers, though. I'm aiming for around 2-3 times the features and playtime.

Can't wait to see that. Great work.

it would be nice to have a way to know how much EXP i need to level up

(+2)

Click on the Character tab, it says it in there :)

(+3)

i won in 11hours 6 minuts and 47 seconds
yay

I'm a bit obsessive about having my numbers reach specific rounded numbers, having an option to toggle that would let me buy bulk but rounded to the nearest buy multiplier would be really nice and appreciated! IE: If I have 42 Strength and a buy multiplier set to 10x and I have 12+ skill points it would buy 8 strength when I click on it to bring it to the nearest 10x which would be 50.

(+4)

would be nice to see the dmg of enemies, for the ranger especially since i have no idea how much constitution it would take to survive a hit once I'm already glass cannoned up

Pushed undying talents past 100 (106) on Wizard and reincarnated, game is now frozen and won't load properly. Refreshing sometimes bring back up the class selection menu, but then I start getting a error and the page wanting to close. Apparently something is wrong!

got the same bug

(1 edit) (+1)

I presume it's Shrink Spell putting some value below 1 and the game isn't coded to handle that. Just gonna have to wait for them to patch and fix it. Oh, speaking of, Shrink Spell shows as a #.00X multiplier, rather than a 0.0# multiplier

(1 edit) (+1)

You're right, there was a bug! It should be fixed now!! Sorry for the inconvenience

It was a division by zero. You were killing the monster in the same frame it spawned, and the exp per second calculator couldn't handle that amount of power hahah.

It might indeed be because monster 1 has 0 HP after the shrink spell

(+1)

Seems to be fixed.

Wow, instakill? Thats downright hilarious!

(+1)

Should show Base stats as well.

This game auto-saves. Huge plus, in my book - and there should be a mention of this somewhere.

Yeah that makes sense
